The Owls - Air
They're right, I've got No Hand To Put My Handshake In. Geez, it's like they know me.
The Owls come from California to Antarctica, via the South x Southwest festival. Thank you to Jim Weed from Leaf and Lime for giving me this, the cutest girl-song I've heard in a thousand years.

The Clientele - Five Day Morning
I had a busy weekend and a tough time trying to decide between posting this, my favorite Clientele song, in hopes of reliving their classy show at the Casbah (where planes fly about 10 feet over your head) or this Tahiti 80 song as a dedication to Kristin's devotion to the sea and the bravery she showed while being wiped across it's craggy floors like a little flesh mop. I didn't have any pictures of Kristin's ass bruise though, so Clientele wins out. I'm not sure why I love this song like I do, but it's quiet and soothing and driving by the seashore at 2 am, listening to this, sure is a fun thing.

billy bragg - the saturday boy
a certain girl years past made this song stick prickly in my mind. to all those for whom it took a dictionary to find out the meaning of 'unrequited', raise with me a cup of commisseration.
later, she and i totally got it on. maybe that cheapens the sentiment.

Antarctica Takes It! - I'm No Lover
With a name like that, how could I refuse posting this fun little romp I found from Said The Gramophone. It's a short little guy mind you, but it packs a punch and I think this may be the cutest song ever written to employ the threat "I will eat your children alive". If you go to their myspace page you can hear other songs and if you send them 6 bucks they'll send you a cd. $6! In the mail!

new ratatat's got monsters on it. two years after yanking me out of new music apathy, evan mast and mike stroud break my legs anew. damn! i was unsure which tracks to post, i hope this helps.
ratatat - tacobel canon
so many treasures in this. when they play this as sunday session of conference lets out, i'll be pew-sitting, arms folded, reverently grinning.
next, a e*vax (evan mast's solo) remix of an album track. the original can be streamed over to their my's pace page, though the remix tames that album cat. look out!
ratatat - wildcat (e*vax remix)

The 1900's - Bring The Good Boys Home
If you want to be kind to poor tired bloggers who've been up since 2:30 this morning, and are trying to do google image searches of your band after a very long day, please DO NOT name your band The 1900's. Luckily, this song has more than made up for the inconvenience their name has caused. Bring The Good Boys Home has been starting my day for about a week now.

donovan - barabajagal (love is hot)
i was listening to this yesterday and an image flashed inside my head: 1969, pre-electric marc bolan sitting next to the hi-fi spinning track 1 of the new donovan, eyes wide.
more donovan to come probably
forgive the double dip, GH is out of town.
